Unglazed Bottle with fire markings

This unglazed bottle was thrown out of a dark clay body resembling that found in Imbe, Japan and used by the Bizen-yaki potters. It bears the marks of the wood flame path, charcoal that it stood in as ashes accumulated in the kiln, and the traces of the straw that was wrapped around the upper part during the stacking process. #783
